HOTEL & TRAVEL The National HBCU/MI Conference will begin with a welcome reception on the evening of Monday, February 2, and will conclude on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Registration and participant check-in will be open on Monday, February 2, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and will begin again on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, 7:00 a.m. Please make your travel arrangements with these schedules in mind.
Hotel rates are guaranteed at the following rates: Conference room block rate: $141.00 per night for all conference attendees. An additional person in the room is $25.00 per person in addition to the rate. Check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 noon. Guests checking-out after 12:00 noon may incur late charges. If early arrivals and late departures are necessary, please contact the hotel in advance. The InterContinental will make every effort to accommodate your requests. There are two ways to make room reservations at the InterContinental Hotel - Buckhead:
Reservations must be made by Monday, January 12, 2009. After the January 12 cut-off date, reservations may be priced at a higher rate and will be based on availability. Participants should note that room, tax, and all incidental charges (room service, telephone, movies, laundry, etc.) are the responsibility of the individual guest. Participants will be asked to leave a credit card imprint at check-in to cover the cost of all hotel expenses. Atlanta is serviced by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport (ATL). The Intercontinental Buckhead is located approximately 17 miles from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport (ATL). Hartsfield-Jackson has now implemented a new Airport Information and Ground Transportation Center conveniently located in the arrival's lobby next door to Hertz Car Rental. Taxicabs: A cab ride costs $35.00 from the airport to Buckhead. Taxicab service is located in the Red Bus aisle. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage. Airport Shuttle: The Atlanta LINK provides exclusive shuttle services to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport to the main areas of Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead. Rail System: The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority operates a rail service from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport to the main areas of Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead. Direct service from the airport to Buckhead is approximately $1.75 each way and takes about 35 minutes. Please visit www.atlanta-airport.com for more information. DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO THE HOTEL North on I-85 from Hartsfield Airport Take I-85 North through downtown Atlanta. I-75 and I-85 will merge and then split. Please stay on I-85. Continue to the off-ramp for GA 400, exit #87 (Buckhead). Take 400 North to Exit #2 Lenox/Buckhead. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left towards Piedmont Road. You will see Buckhead Station shopping center on your left. Turn left onto Piedmont Road and follow to Peachtree Road. Turn left onto Peachtree Road. InterContinental Buckhead is on the right. Headed South on I-85 Take the Lenox Road exit (exit #88) and at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Lenox Road. Turn left onto Buford Highway. Exit Sydney Marcus Boulevard. Follow through to Piedmont Road. Turn right onto Piedmont and follow through to Peachtree Road. Turn right onto Peachtree Road. InterContinental Buckhead is on the right. Headed South on I-75 Take a left exit onto I-85 North. Exit to GA 400 (exit #87). Then exit on Lenox Road/Buckhead (exit #2). At the bottom of the ramp, turn left towards Piedmont Road. You will see Buckhead Station shopping center on your left. Turn left onto Piedmont Road and follow to Peachtree Road. Turn left onto Peachtree Road. InterContinental Buckhead is on the right. East or West on I-20 Take I-20 into downtown Atlanta. Follow the signs to I-85 North through downtown to GA 400 (exit #87). Take 400 North to exit 2, Lenox/Buckhead.
